A creator-friendly workflow for moving your own TikToks to Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts in full quality, without the TikTok logo, plus tips to perform better on each platform.

Posting the same video on TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts is one of the easiest ways for creators to reach more people. The catch: both Instagram and YouTube have said they prefer original content and may show videos with another platform’s watermark to fewer people. This guide shows how to repost your own TikToks cleanly.

Only repost what you own

This workflow is for your own videos, or videos you have explicit permission to use. Reposting other people’s TikToks as your own can break platform rules and copyright law, and gets accounts restricted.

Step 1: Download a clean copy

  1. Open your video in TikTok and tap Share → Copy link.
  2. Paste it into Tik4DL and tap Download HD.
  3. Move the file to your gallery (see the iPhone or Android guide).

Step 2: Check the music

This is the step most people miss. Many TikTok sounds are licensed for TikTok only. If your video uses a commercial song, it may be muted or blocked on other platforms. Two options:

  • Upload the video, then remove the original audio in the Reels or Shorts editor and pick a song from that platform’s own music library.
  • Use your original voiceover or royalty-free music when you create the video, so it works everywhere.

Step 3: Upload to Instagram Reels

  1. In Instagram, tap + → Reel and pick the video from your gallery.
  2. Adjust the cover: Instagram crops the grid preview to 3:4, so check that faces and text are not cut off.
  3. Rewrite the caption for Instagram and use 3–5 relevant hashtags rather than TikTok-style trending tags.

Step 4: Upload to YouTube Shorts

  1. In the YouTube app, tap + → Create a Short → Upload and choose the video.
  2. Vertical videos up to a few minutes long are treated as Shorts. Check YouTube’s current limit if your video is long.
  3. Give it a clear title. On YouTube, the title matters more than hashtags for search.

Text placement Keep text away from the bottom fifth (caption and buttons) Keep text away from the right edge and bottom

  • Post natively. Upload from the app or the platform’s scheduler, not as a link to TikTok.
  • Change the first second if a hook worked better on one platform than another.
  • Keep your originals. Save your HD downloads in one folder, so you can reuse them later without searching.

Common questions

Will Instagram know the video came from TikTok?

Not from the file itself. The clean download has no TikTok logo, username or end card.

Can I repost someone else’s TikTok if I credit them?

Credit alone isn’t permission. Ask the creator first; many will say yes if you tag them.

Should I post on all platforms at the same time?

It doesn’t hurt, but many creators post on TikTok first, see what performs, and then repost the winners.
