Every download on Tik4DL starts with a link. TikTok hides it behind the Share button, and it’s in a slightly different place depending on what you want to copy. This page covers all of them.
Copy the link to a video or photo post
- Open the video or slideshow in the TikTok app.
- Tap the Share arrow on the right side (below the comments and bookmark icons).
- In the bottom row of the share panel, tap Copy link. A “Copied” message confirms it.
The copied link usually looks like https://vm.tiktok.com/ZM…/ or https://www.tiktok.com/@username/video/…. Both work in Tik4DL. Sometimes TikTok copies extra text along with the link, such as “Check out this video!”. That’s fine too: Tik4DL finds the link inside the text.
Copy the link to a Story
- Open the story (tap the profile picture with a coloured ring).
- Tap the … or Share icon at the bottom right.
- Tap Copy link.
Stories expire after 24 hours, so download them soon. Use the TikTok Story Downloader.
Copy the link to a profile
- Go to the profile.
- Tap the Share arrow (or the … menu) at the top right.
- Tap Copy link.
For the Profile Picture Viewer you can also just type the @username.
Copy the link to a sound
Tap the sound name at the bottom of a video to open the sound page, then tap Share → Copy link. Note that Tik4DL needs a video link to download a sound as MP3: copy the link of any video that uses the sound instead.
On a computer (tiktok.com)
- Video: click the video so it opens on its own page, then copy the address from the browser bar.
- From the feed: hover the share arrow next to the video and click Copy link.
- Profile: copy the address bar on the profile page (
tiktok.com/@username).
“Copy link” is missing
Some accounts limit sharing. If there’s no Copy link button, look for Share to → More and pick a notes or messaging app to see the link as text, then copy it from there. If the account is private, the link won’t work in any downloader.
Short links vs. full links
TikTok gives out two kinds of links, and Tik4DL accepts both:
| Type | Looks like | Where you get it |
|---|---|---|
| Short link | https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMabc123/ |
Copy link in the mobile app |
| Full link | https://www.tiktok.com/@user/video/7349… |
The address bar on tiktok.com |
| Photo post | https://www.tiktok.com/@user/photo/7349… |
Same as videos |
Extra parts after a question mark (like ?is_from_webapp=1) are tracking parameters and can be left in or removed; they don’t change the video.
Copying a link from a DM or a comment
If someone sends you a TikTok in a direct message, open it, then use Share → Copy link as usual. For a video mentioned in a comment, tap the creator’s name, find the video on their profile, and copy its link from there.
Paste problems
- The Paste button does nothing: your browser blocked clipboard access. Long-press the input box and choose Paste.
- Something else was pasted: you probably copied something after the link. Go back to TikTok and copy it again.
- “That doesn’t look like a TikTok link”: make sure the text contains
tiktok.com. A link to a sound page or hashtag page isn’t a video link.
Skip copying entirely
On Android, install Tik4DL from the App page and pick it from TikTok’s share menu. On a computer, use the bookmarklet from the same page while watching a video on tiktok.com.
Copy the link, paste it into Tik4DL, pick your format.
