TikTok Stories are short posts that disappear after 24 hours. If a creator shares something you want to keep, a recipe, an announcement or a moment from a trip, you have a day to save it. Here’s how.
How to save a TikTok Story
- Open the story in TikTok. Profiles with an active story have a coloured ring around the picture.
- Tap the … or Share button at the bottom of the story, then Copy link.
- Open the TikTok Story Downloader and tap Paste.
- Tap Download MP4 for video stories. For photo stories, download the image.
Time matters
Once a story expires, it is gone from TikTok’s servers for everyone, including Tik4DL. Download links themselves stay valid for about two hours.
Is it anonymous?
Tik4DL fetches the story on its own, without logging in to TikTok as you. Your account is not involved. Keep in mind that if you opened the story in the TikTok app to copy the link, that view counts as normal, like any other view.
Which stories can be downloaded?
- Public stories: yes.
- Stories from private accounts or shared with close friends only: no.
- Expired stories: no.
Saving your own stories
For your own stories, TikTok also keeps an archive you can browse after they expire (look for Story archive in your profile menu, if your account has it). Tik4DL is still handy for getting a clean file without the watermark while the story is live.
Be considerate: stories are often more personal than regular posts. Don’t repost someone else’s story without permission.

Saving several stories from the same person
Each story has its own link. Tap through the stories, and for each one you want, use Share → Copy link and paste it into Tik4DL. Keep Tik4DL open in another tab, or install the app from the App page, so switching back and forth is quick.

Can I download a story from a private account I follow?
No. Tik4DL never logs in to TikTok, so it can only see what everyone can see.

Will the music be included?
